Pitchfork’s list of the 250 best songs of the ’90s has a surprising number 1
Neither Radiohead nor Nirvana: the website “Pitchfork” has remade its list of the best songs of the 90s and introduced some major changes, such as a new number 1
The website “Pitchfork” has published a new list of the best songs of the 1990s, updating its 2010 choices.
“Because our understanding of music changes, as we learn; because it’s so exciting to discover something we didn’t know (or understand); because taste evolves and grows, enriched by the passage of time,” the team at the online publication justifies.
In the new list, ‘Believe’, by Cher, is ahead of ‘Paranoid Android’, by Radiohead, and ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, by Nirvana, enters the top 10, which did not happen in 2010.
Twelve years ago, the podium consisted of ‘Gold Soundz’ by Pavement, ‘Common People’ by Pulp, and ‘Nuthing’ But a ‘G’ Thang’ by Dr. Dre with Snoop Doggy Dogg. In 2022, the leader is Mariah Carey, with ‘Fantasy’, followed by Björk’s ‘Hyperballad’ and Aaliyah’s ‘Are You That Somebody?
